Mornings
Mist lifts off the water at around seven. The heron works the far bank; the estate is silent apart from it. Coffee on the deck is the whole of the morning's plan.
Lodge owners and their guests have exclusive use of the meadows surrounding the lodges as well as access to the water, within designated areas, ensuring that our wildlife and the integrity of our estate is protected at all times. In summer lie in the long grass surrounded by orchids and butterflies and in the winter wrap up warm and watch the geese overhead.
Afternoons
Owners and guests can walk, explore or simply sit and enjoy the beauty of nature. With mown tracks lead through the wider estate to the River Devon. A short walk takes you to the local pub.
For those who prefer their afternoons indoors, mobile phone service across the estate is good, and the reading is excellent.

Fishing
Private fishing on South Lake for owners, with rudd, perch, pike and carp on the North and Woodland lakes. Catch and release throughout.
Deck living
A wraparound timber deck and fully fenced garden - dining outdoors, with room for family and friends.
The Seasons
Year-round ownership
Spring
Bluebells through the western woodland and the first swallows over the water, usually the second week of April.
Summer
Late light until ten, the busiest and most sociable season on the estate.
Autumn
The best light of the year across the reed beds, and the stove earning its keep.
Winter
Frost on the reeds, woodsmoke, and thousands of geese and duck on the water. Lodges are fully insulated for winter use.
